Welcome to the WebMe newsletter

Well we're still working at providing you with the best online hosting and website management package available on the market.
So, without further ado we'll let you know what new features have been introduced recently.

Online Invoice Management

Further to our announcement that we have automated our invoicing methods, an upshot of this is that you will now be able to view all of your invoices online via your account control panel. Simply go to the Manage Account section of your Control Panel and you can select "View Invoices" to see all invoices, past and present. This area also gives you the option to pay online via credit card or access information about other methods of payment.
We hope that this will be a useful addition to your control panel, but if you have any suggestions for improvement then do let us know.

New Support Database

A new support area has been added to your control panel. Presently this has been labelled "Support Home"; it features a method to interrogate our new support database and also lets you know of any current issues with our systems.
The support database is a great place to start if you have any problems or queries regarding your website or hosting package. Simply search the database by entering some key words and we will try to provide an answer on the spot.
Of course, if you cannot find what you are looking for then simply log a support ticket and one of our experienced support staff will contact you as soon as possible.

Meta Tag Editor

We have had several requests from users for the ability to edit the core meta tags for their website. Meta tags are elements that form part of a web page but that are not visible by a user of the website. See Wikipedia.
Meta tags are sometimes used for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and this is very important to website owners. Now you have the option to add the title, description and keywords to each page in the page editor section of your control panel. You can also set a site default via the "site setup" section which will be used if you do not specify anything in the page editor.
Whilst on the subject of SEO, here are a few tips:
Meta keywords matter
<meta name="keywords" content="keywords here”/>
There is absolutely no harm in adding this information to your site but it won’t help either. Thanks to spammers over using it to artificially get high rankings in non relevant searches it hasn’t been used in search engine ranking factors since the turn of the century.
Meta description doesn’t matter
<meta name="description" content=”Information on egg production, recipes, egg sizes and nutrition.”>
Again, no longer used for ranking purposes but this time it is still worth writing a strong meta description. This is the information search engines use in the results page underneath your title. It won’t get you ranked higher but it could increase the amount of traffic you get.

The upshot is, our meta tag editor may not help your SEO efforts, but at least it's there.

We have many more enhancements planned for 2010 so keep an eye on the announcements in your Control Panel.
